Joseph Pearce was born in London in 1961. He became well known as a teenager and young man for his role as one of the leaders of the youth section of the National Front which was a racist organisation with links to Ulster loyalism.

He served two prison sentence under incitement to hatred legislation but during the second period he began to question the racism he had promoted and began to read the great Catholic author C.K Chesterton.
