RTÉ’s Drivetime heard that a committee from Oughterard who travelled to Dublin to have meetings with both Minister David Stanton and Direct Provision operator Seán Lyons of Fazyard felt they had been intimidated by Lyons.
Fazyard has purchased the Connemara Gateway Hotel in Oughterard and has tendered an application with the government to use it for accommodating asylum seekers. The Sunday Business Post reported that Fazyard last year received €5.5 million for housing about 500 asylum seekers, bringing its total to €33 million over 12 years.
