Following anti mass immigration violence there, Nigeria has suddenly and uncharacteristically stepped up to the plate and announced this week that it would repatriate about 600 nationals after the recent attacks on African migrants in the Joburg CBD.
The group was taken to OR Tambo International Airport on two buses from the Nigerian consulate this morning.
Nigeria announced this week that it would repatriate about 600 nationals after twelve people (mostly South Africans) had been killed and hundreds more arrested during days of looting and rioting.
More than a dozen Nigerians were waiting at the Nigerian consulate in Rivonia, hoping for transport to take them to the airport so they could return to their country.
They were carrying their luggage and holding on to their passports.

Despite being pro refugee all these years, Leo Varadkar has finally seen the situation first hand and has admitted on his FIRST visit to a refugee camp, that it had changed his perspectives on the issue, but said it would still be mistaken to dismiss people’s concerns about migration. There are already reports that some tenants have stopped paying rent, arguing that the farms/homes they rent will soon be expropriated and the title deeds signed over to them. Property owners in South Africa are now unable to find people willing to buy their houses. Farmers are reluctant to invest in new plant and agricultural machinery.

In a video that went viral on social media, hundreds of students from the University of Limpopo (UL) can be seen exiting a lecture hall because the exam they were set to write was ‘too difficult’.
University of Limpopo’s (UL) spokesperson Johannes Selepe, confirmed that the video is authentic, adding that investigations are underway and action will be taken when the investigations have concluded.
“It happened last week Tuesday at 18:00. They were writing Educational Philosophy,” Selepe told the media.

Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble has told Germans to forget about the one million plus “refugees” who flooded into Germany over the past three years ever returning to their home countries.
“We should realize how difficult it is to deport in individual cases. That’s why we should not foster too much hope that we can send back the majority of these people,” said Schäuble.

Deportation or jail: Israel gives African migrants 60-day deadline to leave country and has started issuing deportation orders to African migrants, giving them 60 days to return to their home countries or opt for an unnamed safe haven. Those failing to meet the deadline risk being sent to prison.
Israel’s Population, Immigration and Border Authority delivered the first batch of notices Sunday, telling migrants they have to leave before April 1. The notification says the government arranged their relocation to “a safe third country.” In addition to the travel documents and free plane tickets, the migrants will receive a $3,500 cash payment.
